Local Hockey Star Cole Korhonen Drafted by New Jersey Blue Demons

Hometown hero Cole Korhonen has been drafted into the NHL by the New Jersey Blue Devils. The 18-year-old forward from Pigeon Creek has been turning heads in the hockey world with his speed, agility, and sharp shooting skills.

Korhonen’s journey began in the small rinks of Pigeon Creek, where he started playing hockey at age five. His standout performances in local leagues and junior hockey earned him a spot in the NHL Draft. A pivotal moment in his development was living with his billet brother, Liam “Peter Pan” Donnghal, now with the Montreal Mounties. Their bond and mutual support helped both players excel.

A community send-off celebration is planned before Korhonen heads to New Jersey. “It’s surreal,” Korhonen said. “I’ve always dreamed of playing in the NHL, and I’m ready to give it my all and make Pigeon Creek proud.”

Cole Korhonen’s story is a testament to hard work and community support, and Pigeon Creek will be cheering him on every step of the way.
