Sent in response to PCHS’s Production of West Side Story Saved by Calder McAllister
Dear Editor,
Why are we praising Calder McAllister for his performance in the school play when, just yesterday, I found him tagging a peach onto my barn wall?
Now, I’m not a fuddy duddy so I know exactly what a peach means nowadays.
Those McAllister boys are a blight on the town and definitely should not be praised by the paper!
Everly Grundy
Dear Ms. Grundy,
If we can not find pleasure in the arts, then what has society truly become?
While, yes, Calder McAllister has been known to use spray paint too much for the town’s good, is it not wiser to steer him off this deviant path and onto one of the arts that will nourish his soul far more?
Praising a job well done, and in a situation where he had to step up, truly shows the mettle of the boy who is on the brink of becoming a man.
I’m sure Sergeant Reilly will be around to inspect your barn shortly.
